Crowding Delayed Nice v Cologne Kickoff

Thursday's Europa Conference League match between Nice and Cologne was postponed when disturbances

broke out in the crowd at the Allianz Riviera in southern France. After watching television images of German team

supporters moving toward the home crowd and tossing flares, the soccer association's governing body,

UEFA, said that the game had been "delayed due to crowd disruption." Just before the planned 18:45 local time

(16:45 GMT) kickoff, police interfered, but the players had not yet begun warming up. A UEFA meeting,

according to Cologne, is "ongoing." Jonas Hector, the captain of Cologne,

also spoke to the audience through the public address system.
